We hit 200! A big thank you + fall garden & kitchen favorites - Live Life from Scratch

Live Life from Scratch

Hi Reader,

I just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you—because this week, our little Live Life from Scratch community passed 200 subscribers!!

When I first started sharing my garden projects and scratch-made recipes, I never imagined so many of you would join me on this journey. It means so much knowing we’re all working toward a more homemade, hands-on life together.

To celebrate, I’ve gathered a few seasonal favorites you might enjoy as we head into the cooler months.

Let’s start in the garden:

How to Braid Softneck Garlic

It’s almost that time of year again. Perhaps you’ve already harvested some garlic, or you’re planning to do so soon. If you want to store it long-term, braiding is a beautiful (and practical) way to go.

Tip: If you don’t have one yet, a simple roll of natural twine is all you need to braid and hang your garlic.

How to Prepare Your Garden Soil for Next Year

When the growing season is over and the days turn chilly, it’s the perfect time to check in on your soil.

Healthy soil means happy crops and abundant harvests. In this post, I share some simple ways to improve your soil now so you’re all set for next season!

Beginner’s Guide on How to Plant Bulb Flowers

Once the veggies are harvested and the soil is tended, autumn is a great time to plant some bulb flowers. Come spring, you’ll thank yourself when your garden bursts with color.

And because cozy evenings call for something delicious, here are a few kitchen favorites too:

Stewed Pears

Simple, sweet, and filled with fall flavor. These are perfect on their own, or as a topping for pancakes, oatmeal, or even ice cream: Stewed Pears Recipe.

Beef Pot Pie

This hearty, comforting recipe is one of our family’s favorites on cold evenings. Make the stew ahead of time, then just add puff pastry and bake when you’re ready: Beef Pot Pie Recipe.

Helpful tool: I use a Dutch oven to get the beef perfectly browned and tender.

Homemade Flatbread

Soft, chewy, and versatile—these flatbreads are great for quick lunches, dinners, or to keep in the freezer for busy days:

Pro tip: A sturdy cast iron skillet gives the flatbreads a perfect golden finish.

Since this milestone feels like the perfect time to look ahead, I’d love to hear from you:

Warmly,
